The first publicity shots
for The Children's Hour have appeared.
I had intended to refrain from posting Keira plaudits for London Boulevard and Never Let Me Go until they were released on both sides of the Atlantic, but as that looks like being six months apart, I've compiled them now. Read the Reviews & Praise.
December 16th
There's a great collection
of interviews, trailers and making-of clips for Last Night at this
site. It's a German site, and the movie is due out there at the end
of the month. Lucky them.

More of the forthcoming
Vogue interview
with Keira has emerged, in which she states 'something was broken' in her
during the manic years of her meteoric rise to fame. Meanwhile, her friend
Sienna Miller says
she is jealous of the "laid back home life" Keira enjoys.
Howard Panter, boss of the Ambassador Theatre Group which produced, among many others, The Misanthrope and is currently producing The Children's Hour, says UK theatre is entering a new 'Golden Age'. Article.
Despite being a strong contender in the 'awards prediction' articles for much of the year, Never Let Me Go has failed to pick up ANY nominations at the first biggie of the year, The Golden Globes. Better luck at the BAFTAs - nominations are out on January 18th. Article.
December 9th
Keira and her Children's
Hour co-star Elisabeth Moss have started rehearsals for the play with some
practical lessons. They visited Brentwood School on Tuesday 7th (see pics

and they were spotted in the audience of Black Watch at London's Barbican

TotalFilm has an 'Evolution of Keira Knightley' feature over 28 pages. Spot the pic that's not related to the movie.
Here's a great photoshoot from the Rome Film Festival promotions of Last Night. I think I like it more because she's not baring flesh or looking sexy. Just being herself.
November 30th
London Boulevard has debuted
at No.3 in the UK box office in its first week, taking £577,000 across
345 screens. That includes £138,000 from Wednesday and Thursday previews.
Of course, it was never expected to worry Harry Potter and his Deadly Halitosis,
but this good return may result in a wider release this weekend. Article.
November 23rd
Keira will 'participate'
at a tribute
evening to producer Jeremy Thomas, hosted by the Oscar academy AMPAS
this Thursday in London. Whether attending or providing a pre-recorded
video tribute will be known by the evidence (or lack of) pap snaps on the
night. Thomas is producer of A Dangerous Method, his third movie for director
David Cronenberg.
Here's a London Boulevard interview with Ray Winstone.
November 22nd
Keira has become a patron
of the SMA Trust, a charity raising funds and awareness for Spinal Muscular
Atrophy, of which a Knightley family member is a sufferer. Press
release. Keira is also an ambassador
of The Starlight Foundation.
Never Let Me Go's European release has been put back again: UK - Feb 11th; France & Belgium - Feb 9th; Italy Feb 25th; Germany - March 31st.
A Dangerous Method's producer is the latest to lament the UK's lack of investment in the UK film industry in this article, which also features some, ahem, interesting detail about Keira's sex scenes!
Here's another London Boulevard video interview with Colin Farrell - quite possibly the most reluctant interviewee in history!
The full cast for The Children's
Hour is now as follows:
Ellen Burstyn - Amelia Tilford
Nancy Crane - Agatha
Amy Dawson - Rosalie Wells
Isabel Ellison - Catherine
Bryony Hannah - Mary Tilford
Carol Kane - Lily Mortar
Keira Knightley - Karen
Wright
Tobias Menzies - Dr Joseph
Cardin
Elizabeth Moss - Martha
Dobie
November 19th
The one reliable journalist
at The Daily Mail, showbiz editor Baz Bamigboye, writesin
his column today that Keira is top of Working Title's list to play Anna
Karenina in a new adaptation to be directed by Joe Wright, with a screenplay
by Sir Tom Stoppard.
More cast has been announced to join Keira and Elisabeth Moss in The Children's Hour. Bryony Hannah will play Mary Tilford, the pupil at the centre of the storyline. Veteran actress Ellen Burstyn will play her mother. Carol Kane and Tobias Menzies have also been cast. Rehearsals start on December 6th. Official tickets are still available at the banner above.
London Boulevard previews in London on the 24th and 25th, before national release on the 26th. Yet to see or hear any Keira promotion for this, even pre-recorded, but Ray Winstone is on ITV1's London Tonight next week one day at 6pm (Sky 993 if you're outside London) and Film2010 should at least have a mention of it. Director William Monahan is interviewed by Collider.com.
November 16th
Today's announcement of
the engagement between Prince William and the soon-to-be Princess Catherine
reminded me of Channel 4's 2004 attempt to match him up with suitable stock,
of which Keira was the final choice to vote for. I've uploaded all three
segments on the Youtube
Channel. By the way, Keira finished fourth in the poll,
ahead of a certain Kate Middleton in fifth :)
Talking of polls, Keira is No.2 in a new poll of Sexiest British Actresses Under 30. Keira's co-stars Sienna, Carey and Hayley also make the list.
An update on the London Boulevard promotions: The TV ad still says Kiera - although I did see an ad plastered along the side of a bus today, which was spelled correctly. Hooray!
Keira has been in Cornwall since the weekend for a photoshoot which will appear in Italian Vogue, probably around the time of the release of A Dangerous Method. See pap snaps.
November 15th
The London Boulevard premiere
would be in the schedules by now if it was happening, so I'd guess there
will instead be a back-street London cinema press night, as there was for
The Jacket. Colin Farrell seems to be doing all the promotions on his own
for this movie. See his interviews today with Daybreak
and Sky
News, the latter featuring new clips. He's also on ITV At The Movies
this Saturday (see Diary).
Here's an interview with Rupert Friend about the short film Steve (starring Keira) and Colin Firth's casting in it.
I've been informed that Keira's
agency address has changed. I've asked for official clarification, but
there's now no trace of the Shaftesbury Avenue address on their web site,
so please direct all fanmail to the new address on the Fanmail link in
the left-hand column.
Thanks John

- Mystery No.1: Why the
people who made the currently-showing UK TV spot for London Boulevard have
the word 'KIERA KNIGHTLEY' in big letters
on the screen? Completely unacceptable to spell her name wrong now. She's
hardly an unknown.
- Mystery No.2: Why the
UK premiere of Silk is on Film4 on Friday December 3rd at 1.10 *AM*
?? This film will be seen by about as many people as saw it on its 24-screen
UK cinema release. For one week.

Keira's Central London flat
was among several targeted by burglars on October 26th. The flat was apparently
ransacked and two laptops were taken due to a faulty security door. Keira
was not in residence at the property in which her brother also lives. Despite
an increase in burglaries among celebrities who are seen in the media to
be away from home, the criminals are not thought to have been aware of
the property's owner in this case. Anyone with information should contact
Westminster CID. Article.
An image which may or may not turn out to be the official poster for London Boulevard has appeared.
November 1st
Keira

Never Let Me Go at the BIFAs (British Independent Film Awards). The ceremony

in 2005 (watch

- Tonight's red carpet premiere

Here is the official synopsis
for The Children's Hour:
When a troubled teenager
starts to spin a web of deceit, all around her are soon caught up in it.
Karen Wright (Keira Knightley) and Martha Dobie (Elisabeth Moss) have worked
for years to establish their all-girls boarding school, and now, with the
school flourishing and Karen on the verge of marriage, their lives and
loves finally appear secure. However, when malicious student Mary runs
away from the school and seeks to avoid being sent back, she draws on hearsay,
gossip, and her own imagination, to concoct a story that threatens the
school, the marriage, and their entire futures.

NEW PROJECT !!!
- Keira has now been confirmed
in the role of Karen Wright in the first West End production of Lillian
Hellman's 1934 play The Children's Hour. Elizabeth Moss (star of Mad Men)
will play her partner as the owners of a girl's school who are both accused
of lesbian relations by a disruptive pupil.
- Rehearsals will start
in late November with performances commencing in January at a venue to
be confirmed. An official opening will happen in February.
- Jerusalem director Ian
Rickson will direct the play. Elizabeth Moss performed to rave reviews
in Speed The Plow on Broadway, although this will be her London debut.
There are plans to transfer the play to Broadway next winter.
- As a huge Audrey Hepburn
fan I'm so excited about this project and I'm extremely pleased that Keira
will play the role that Audrey played in William Wyler's 1962 movie.

October 31st. You can see the trailer and a couple more videos (Preview,

Keira did not appear at the premiere of Rupert's film Steve in London today, as she was said by Rupert to be "under the weather".
October 20th
The New York Post is reporting
that Keira is lined up for a theatre revival of Lillian Hellman's 1936
play The Children's Hour, which was turned into a film in 1962 starring
Audrey Hepburn and Shirley Maclaine. The plan is for a London run early
next year and then to transfer it to Broadway, New York the following winter.
The story of accused lesbianism among the owners of a private girls school
is based on real events in Scotland in 1810. Hellman's play ended with
a confession, after her partner's suicide, that she really was in love
with her.
Collider has news of London Boulevard at long last. Among details of Sergio Pizzorno's score, it says the film's trailer and stills will be with us soon.
Here are some new images from Last Night ahead of next week's Rome premiere.
October 18th
Hollywood.com reports
that Pathe has dismissed the Keira as Diana rumours as "pure gossip". Well,
well.
FilmGaze.com has Tweeted that Keira told them on the red carpet that The Beautiful & Damned is no longer happening. We await official confirmation of this, but given its absence during a Variety article mentioning the production company's ongoing projects after financial restructuring, it's no surprise that it may have been mothballed, if not cancelled completely.
The Playlist has the first official stills from A Dangerous Method.
Never Let Me Go has now amassed $1.66m at US cinemas, across 232 screens. It is showing at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival this week, and Tokyo FF from the 28th. UK release is still set for January 21st (hopefully wide), and most of Europe throughout February.
October 17th
Ahead of this month's festival
opener at Rome, a trailer
for Last Night has finally been released.
The Daily Mail - who else? - has revived the rumours of Keira playing Princess Diana in a movie biopic. This last appeared at the height of Helen Mirren's award-winning performance of The Queen in May 2007. If this happens, I'll eat my hat and post the video on Youtube...

According to IMDb this was her last acting credit before she turned to writing full-time. Keira came along a couple of years later. She even does a Yorkshire accent - sometimes.

Last Night will close the
Toronto Film Festival on September 19th, it was announced
today. An official release schedule surely can't be far off? It's been
a long time coming, but kudos to Filmyard for getting this on the slate
so soon after acquiring the remains of Miramax. The article also mentions
London Boulevard but it's hard to tell if it's just a round-up of Keira's
forthcoming movies - it doesn't appear in the line-up.
So that's four premieres in six weeks for Keira: two at Toronto FF, one
at London FF and the London Boulevard premiere somewhere in early October.
August 15th
An article concerning Keira's
private life was published today, which KeiraWeb never republishes in this
column (although it'll be on the automatic Newswire at the link above).
At the end of it was the interesting tidbit that Keira is to tour the world
promoting Never Let Me Go! Presumably 'the world' means UK, Canada and
US where it will get premieres.
Here's a great article on the casting and adaptation of London Boulevard from book to screen.
Off-topic: A proud moment for me and my hometown folk today!!: See page I made.

The soundtrack CD for Never
Let Me Go will be released

Despite its October 13th
premiere, AP reports
Never Let Me Go will not be released until January 14th in the UK. However,
this is still two weeks earlier than the date announced last week. Meanwhile,
there's lots of press
on the movie being the launch film at the LFF, and the Telegraph provides
a very good review.
August 5th
Never Let Me Go will get
its European premiere on October 13th as the launch movie of the 2010 London

it's currently looking like two premieres in a week for Keira. Article

Keira is among a number
of female celebs who have been photographed by Nick Haddow for a book project
called MySafePlace. The brainchild of actress Emma Thompson, it aims to
raise funds and awareness for the Helen
Bamber Foundation, which helps to rebuild lives for survivors of human
rights violations. Photographs collected so far, including Keira's, can

Never Let Me Go has now
appeared on the UK cinema release calendar with a date of January 28th.
It's no coincidence, surely, that this is just three days after the Oscar
nominations are announced.
Also, in a new Italian interview with Sam Worthington, he says Last Night will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
As it stands, then (subject
to change):
- Never Let Me Go: Premiere

- Last Night: Premiere Toronto
FF September 9th-19th; US & UK release Late 2010
- London Boulevard: Premiere

- A Dangerous Method: Premiere

The Suicide Brothers will
be released on iTunes on September 21st via Shorts International, according

Year's Eve.

Never Let Me Go will premiere

9th to 19th. Article.

The official
poster for Never Let Me Go is online at the LA Times. Click on it for
full size. Much will be made of the fact that Keira is absent in all but
name, and I'm not sure it really 'sells' the film, to be honest. No tagline
either - I wonder if this is the finished product? The clues are there:
the 'sliced' lettering, the characters running, suggestive of a race against
time. But you'd only make that connection if you've read the book.
The LA Business Journal has an update on The Film Department, the company that was due to produce Keira in The Beautiful & Damned. The company has suffered financial setbacks lately but may now be entering a new chapter in its history, and the F Scott Fitzgerald biopic is still on its slate.
As it's funded by us Brits, the BBC has to keep telling us how it's spending our money. They've put together a couple of showreels promoting its film production investment arm, BBC Films. One on TV I saw yesterday had clips from The Duchess, and there's a different one here with more Duchess clips.
Meanwhile, our shiny new government has closed down the UK Film Council, without which many global British hits, including Bend It Like Beckham, would probably never have happened.

This, apparently, is the
first official publicity
pic for London Boulevard although it's nothing new to most people who
keep an eye on Keira-related pics
or the Youtube phone camera videos
from the set. But at least it's the first stage towards an actual release!
Still no date set, and I doubt anything will appear before the World Cup's
over in mid-July now.
I came across this article recently, from an Autumn 2008 film techniques magazine. It's about The Suicide Brothers. Just shows what's out there if you look hard enough... We only got to hear about this film when Lula magazine featured it in March 2009!

UPI has picked up on distribution
of A Dangerous Method to Europe and South Africa. Article.
Keira is joint seventh on the Under-30s list of The Sunday Times Rich List, with a reported £28m fortune.
April 21st
Keira has been linked (of
course) with the role of Nicole Diver in a new adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's
Tender Is The Night. No director is yet attached but it seems unlikely
Keira would do both an adaptation of the man's work as well as the biopic
of Fitzgerald The Beautiful & Damned. Article.
The Times has an interview with artist Mitch Griffiths who says that his portrait of Keira will not be nude, despite press reports.
April 14th
Keira has recorded a short
film for display as a video installation at a forthcoming London exhibition
of the work of artist Stuart Pearson Wright. Entitled 'Maze', the film
stars Keira and Pearson Wright as lovers trying to reach each other through
a garden maze. The film cost just £15,000 to make although Keira
was not paid for her part. The film can be seen at The Riflemaker Gallery
in West London from May 5th to June 26th. Exclusive

E! Online is reporting
that Keira has ruled herself out of a role in Captain America (if she was
ever considering it in the first place). Phew, that's a relief!
April 6th
Last time I had a response
from the production company behind The Beautiful & Damned, they told
me to keep an eye on the Project Notes section of the movie's entry at
IMDb. This section was updated last week (March 27th) with the note: 'Production
Unknown'. More recent enquiries have gone unanswered. Hmm...
The Suicide Brothers will be showing at the Aspen (Colorado) ShortsFest from today until the 11th, and the Athens (Ohio) Film and Video Festival, April 23-29th. At this rate the whole world will have seen this film by about the year 3535.

Keira has been praised

EDIT: Here's another interview,
from Monday's BBC London.
March 19th
Well it's awards weekend,
and the Oliviers are streaming live from this

wil be there, and Rupert will be presenting an award, according to this
article. It's also live on BBC
Radio 2.
March 17th
Rumour has it that Keira
is being considered for the lead female role in Captain America (quite
possibly the only comic strip superhero they haven't done yet). Keira's
name has been mentioned, of course, because of the desire for a British
actress to play this role. Emily Blunt is rumoured to be the frontrunner
for the role.
March 12th
Keira, alongside Annie Lennox,
Jonathan Pryce and Beverley Knight, has lent her voice to another Amnesty
International human rights awareness campaign, as you can see on
their site. To coincide with Mother's Day this Sunday the 14th in the
UK and Europe, the charity has made a video to highlight the number of
deaths and disabilities suffered by mothers following childbirth. Press
release.
Tomorrow will be the last chance to catch Keira at The Comedy Theatre as the scheduled run of The Misanthrope draws to a close. Keira has said she hopes it will be the first of many theatre performances.
IndieWire is the latest movie site to mull Never Let Me Go as a big awards contender for 2010.

The new issue of Empire Magazine has the 'first official still' from Never Let Me Go, according to this blog post.
March 2nd
Keira attended the Oliviers
Nominees Luncheon in London today. Speaking about her nomination for her
debut stage role in The Misanthrope, she said: “[It's] like a dream come
true. I never actually thought I would make it on the stage and then my
debut, to then get a nomination, it’s extraordinary.” Plenty of pics and
fashion analysis on the Newswire

February 26th
You have just two weeks
to catch Dame Keira in her debut West End performance in The Misanthrope.
Official tickets are still available at the banner link above. No use waiting
for the DVD, you know!
It's a full diary for Keira in March: Next Tuesday the 2nd, Keira will attend The Haymarket Hotel in London for an Oliviers Nominees Luncheon, and the ceremony itself is on the 21st. Inbetween are Keira's daily Misanthrope performances, with the celebrations to mark the end of The Misanthrope's run at The Comedy Theatre on the 13th. The Beautiful & The Damned may finally start filming in late March, according to rumours. Oh, and the lady herself is 25 years old on the 26th. With London Boulevard a possible April release, if you thirst for red carpet Keira, the drought may be over!
The Olivier Awards will be streamed online for the first time this year, reports the official site. As I mentioned recently, they usually only have interviews and award winner announcements, so this is great news (provided the servers hold out!).
There's a still from Never Let Me Go in this article about Rachel Portman's score for the movie.
The Talking Cure is set to start filming in May, according to Keira's co-star Michael Fassbender in this interview. The Croatian press have already said a March visit by Keira and co to film The Beautiful & Damned, so if rumours become fact (when do they ever?) Damned should start straight after The Misanthrope, and then Cure to shoot in May.
February 21st
The final draft of the script
for The Talking Cure has now been completed, according to the updated IMDbPro
'Project Notes' section. And there's now an official synopsis on the production
company's web
site (go to Our Films > Development).
The Suicide Brothers has been confirmed for the Nashville Film Festival, taking place April 15th to 22nd.
February 16th
Last Night will get
a release, according to an interview
with Disney CEO Bob Iger published yesterday. He says there will be investment
in Miramax to release the final six pending movies this year and next.
Even a DVD-only release will be welcome, compared to the fears it would
be shelved.
Costumes from The Duchess and Pirates are on display at an exhibition in Florida.
The Oliviers will not be televised in the UK, laments an article in Variety today. Given the launch of the excellent Sky Arts (which produced a great series Theatreland last year), and More4's launch of an arts and theatre strand, you'd think it would have got picked up, especially this year with such a Hollywood presence. The official Oliviers site will have cameras there for winners' announcements and interviews, and they'll appear online.
Colin Farrell is promoting Crazy Heart on Jonathan Ross this Friday on BBC1 - a possible London Boulevard mention, perhaps?

With the tragic suicide
today of fashion designer Alexander McQueen at the age of just 40, another
leading light of Britain's contribution to global culture goes out. One

nominations have now been published.
The Misanthrope is nominated in Best Costume and Best Production Revival
categories, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Keira. She will be up
against Rachel Weisz, Ruth Wilson and her Duchess co-star Hayley Atwell
among others.
February 7th
Keira has been nominated
for a Laurence Olivier Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for
her performance as Jennifer in The Misanthrope. This is fantastic news
for a debut role as the Oliviers are the UK equivalent of America's Tony
Awards, pretty much the Oscars of British theatre. The awards ceremony
will be held in London on March 21st. Article

A man has been arrested
after harrassing Keira outside the Comedy Theatre for several days. Polish
national Marek Daniluk was arrested on Thursday and is now due to appear
on trial on June 4th. The ability to see your idol in a public street every
night is exciting for many people (just see the faces and hear the delight
of the people in the Youtube
vids for confirmation of that), but for some people who, perhaps, are
convinced she is appearing only for them, it 's very easy to cross the
line.

And Sweet-Keira has a new still from Last Night. Also - old news to some - there's a series of paparazzi videos on Youtube of Keira and co filming on the set of Last Night at the end of 2008. Let's hope those are not the only moving images we get to see of that film!
Keira has once again lent her lips to charity for this year's Healed With A Kiss celebrity auction of lip prints and signatures.
The local St Albans newspaper now has a new article and a photo of Keira with the fan who met her idol at The Comedy Theatre, mentioned on January 20th.

British news rag The Sun has an hilarious story that Keira and Rupert are now living on a narrowboat in the East End of London. Her agent has dismissed the report. Still, it's publicity for both plays...
Australian movie site DarkHorizons.com says that Last Night has been pushed back to early 2011 in Oz, and suggests a consequent late-2010 release in the US. Normally, this could be to catch the awards panel committees. However, it is being reported that Keira will head to the US maybe mid-March (post-Misanthrope) to promote the movie, and the UK release is still pencilled in for May 14th.

However, Baz in The Daily Mail says in his Friday column that ...Cure is one of two films Keira has lined up post-Misanthrope (the other may be The Beautiful & The Damned, which is still officially on). He also says she has walked away from My Fair Lady as it was taking too long to come together.
January 11th
Keira will chat to Andrew
Marr on his Sunday morning show on the 17th, from 9am on BBC1. Presumably
it's a pre-recorded Misanthrope promotion, now that the tickets and reviews

two huge stories, which literally ran for weeks and weeks. Damian also
